2009 Activities at Amherst State Park
2009 Planting - Daffodil Bulbs
In the fall of 2009, as the start of the Arboretum Project, the Town of Amherst purchased 1500 daffodil bulbs to be planted in Amherst State Park. On Saturday, October 10, 2010, group of about 12 volunteers planted the bulbs on the slope between the Mother house and the lower level.
The yellow arrows in the photo at the right show the areas where the volunteers planted the daffodils and mixed narcissus bulbs.
Below are six photos of the slope between the maintenance road and the steps. The three photos on the left show the area as it is now and the three photos on the right show what we hope to see this spring. Come out this spring and see what comes up.
Volunteers gathered at Amherst State Park on Saturday to plant 1,000 daffodil bulbs. Digging in and helping, from left, were Ellen Banks, Lois Shriver and Mike Procknal. The planting was the first step toward an arboretum being planned for the park.
