AMHERST BUYS LAWN MOWER WITH STATE GRANT

      Thanks to a state grant, the Amherst Highway Department was able to buy a wide-cutting lawn mower to maintain the grounds at the Amherst State Park, 400 Mill St. The town and state joined together to purchase the land and save it from development.

       Though it is a state park, the town is responsible for maintaining the 77 acres and needed a new industrial-size lawn mower.

       Sen. Mary Lou Rath, R-Williamsville, secured the $29,000 grant.
