Arboretum Project Continues - Clearing the North Fence Area
Tuesday September 6 and Wednesday September 7, 2011, as part of the Arboretum Project, the Town of Amherst Highway Department workers cleared away the overgrowth of old, dead, or dying bushes and trees from along the north fence area of the Entrance Way. The intent of today's work is to provide a safer environment for visitors wishing to walk the sidewalk or rest on one of the benches, and to beautify that portion of the Entrance Way. The plan is to replace a few of the trees, landscape with low growing shrubs that remain close to the ground, and plant a variety of interesting ground covers.
Many thanks to the Amherst Highway Department for their help with the Arboretum development.
